Single mother Miriam Waslyk works as a waitress to pay the bills, but it is her painting and her 13-year-old daughter that provide her with real sustenance. Although the precocious Amanda can be a handful! She delights in chasing away Mom's suitors, while enlisting the help of her friend, Randolph - whose wardrobe changes according to Amanda's latest book of choice.
